Clinton didn't stop Obama's momentum!!!

Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 06:52:54 AM PDT

I know all the pundits are saying so, but the truth is all she stopped was his coronation, which is a very different thing. We forget that it was only 2 months ago that Clinton looked like the sure winner because a few days ago it looked like Obama was going to rap up the nomination just like Kerry did in 2004, on his first attempt to grab the brass ring. But this isn't 2004 when Dems were so desperate to beat Bush that they quickly rallied behind the "winner" of Iowa.

Even with Obama's narrow loss we have seen a whole raft of endorsements come his way from "establishment" folks, and now the LA Wave has published an article about the excitement Obama's performance thus far has generated in the grassroots.

Quotes below...

From an article titled "Early showings energize Obama's L.A. campaign":

"Illinois Senator Barack Obama's victory in the Iowa Caucus last week - coupled with a close second place finish in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary - has galvanized his presidential campaign in Los Angeles, particularly among black supporters.

'The wave of momentum that started in Iowas and New Hampshire is on its way here to California', said Dr. David Washington, a LA based senior adviser to the Obama Campaign. 'People like me are inspired, and that's why so many are flocking to the Obama campaign. After winning in a state that is 96 percent Caucasian, and nearly winning in New Hampshire, we're seeing many black people saying now it's okay to believe.'

He added:'But it's not just black people. Latinos, Asians, young and old are identifying with the Senator's message of hope and change.'...

According to communications director Debbie Mesloh, 2,771 Californians signed up to be precinct captains for the Obama campaign during a two-day recruitment drive held immediately after the Iowa contest."

Iowa was the earthquake that has triggered a tsunami, as the disaffected who have a hard time believing like doubting Thomas, now have the proof they need to get on board. These doubting Thomases are the hardest to reach because they have been disappointed time after time, but they are the key to any real change occurring. And I don't think they will be not put off by a close second in New Hampshire, if anything, the fact that he didn't grab the brass ring on his first pass is probably reassuring because it makes more sense. In a way, it is more likely to pull in those who have turned their back on the process as they see a chance to really make a difference.

After all, it doesn't take a genius to see that with Obama winning about 40% of the white vote he can crush Clinton with the addition of minority voters.

So, take heart Obama supporters, the best is yet to come.
