Obama/Richardson '08, the "melting pot" ticket?

CW has always been that Richardson would be a good VP pick for Hillary, but not for Obama because we could not have two "minorities" on the ticket. I must confess I thought so myself, until I saw them together on the stage yesterday. Tweety actually brought this idea to mind when he commented about how proud he was to see them up there together, having such an impact  in America, and I had to admit that they did look great side by side. Just like the Clinton/Gore ticket, in which two "Southern new Democrats" ran together, a Richardson pick would fit perfectly with Obama's "unity" theme.

Just like Obama, Richardson is obviously a "bi-racial" person. As he pointed out himself, he is a Hispanic with an Anglo name who looks Native American. Such a ticket would bring together the main historical racial and ethnic influences that have formed and shaped this country from the beginning. Like Obama, he represents the new face of America, in which the races are mixed instead of staying in their own corners, the real melting pot. He would instantly solve Obama's "Hispanic problem", and together they would have a shot all across the Southwest... even in "Red" states like Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona.

In addition, he provides great "balance" in other important areas, as he does have both executive and foreign policy experience. There would be no problem with having this guy a heartbeat away from the presidency. And as evidenced yesterday, his speaking ability seems much better when advocating for Obama for some reason, maybe because Obama inspires him as well. While many cynics claim that he made this move purely out of political considerations, I don't believe it. I think Obama has inspired him, and that he does as he said, "want to be part" of this amazing movement.

What do you guys think? Am I onto something here, or am I crazy?
